New Zealand beat Australia 30-14 in its final match on home soil before hosting this year’s Rugby World Cup to move a top the Tri-Nations standings.

The victory lifted New Zealand to nine points from two games in the annual southern hemisphere championship and also gave it an unbeatable 1-0 lead in the two-match Bledisloe Cup series against Australia.

The All Blacks and Wallabies had opened the Tri-Nations by beating a second-string South Africa team. The three rivals are using the tournament to fine-tune combinations before this year’s World Cup starts Sept. 9.

South Africa will host the next two games, with Australia facing New Zealand in the final match on Aug. 27 in Brisbane.
